Conceited Celebrity
I asked; they won’t open the doors until he arrives.
Until then, everyone must queue.
That’s the burden of being famous and popular;
People arrive extra early to be certain of a seat.
In this rain why don’t they let people in; they’ll catch a chill or worse.
Worse?
Yes, they’ll get frustrated, agitated and the atmosphere during the event will turn hostile. Such shame, making people wait in the rain when they could be warm and cosy inside.
Yet, nobody recognises me in this red cap.
I think you should.
Should?
Yes! tell them you are here.
I like the concept of the conceited celebrity; it must be hard being a celebrity and NOT being conceited 🙂

Some wear the cap better than others. Thanks for the comment.

Great character. So, he’s getting wet just for the pleasure of seeing other people getting wet waiting for him?

Disdain comes to mind.

He could stick around a bit before officially arriving and see if anyone starts a fight…
It’s amazing who I don’t recognise when they’re not in the expected setting and wearing the expected things.

Well maybe they will turn on him. I got mistaken for George Clooney once, didn’t last long.

I’m not sure how much longer his fans will queue for him if he keeps treating them like this! Nice take James.

You’re right of course – it only takes one misplaced moment and the fans will find someone else.

if somebody recognizes him, i wonder what commotion it would be. 🙂

Yes, would they crowd him for autographs, or?

The cult of celebrity has gone too far! 😀

Agree – its the promotion and the followers that push them forward.

That reminds me of the real story when Agatha Christie was refused to be let in to an event because she came too early. An event made to honour… Agatha Christie. As shy as she was, she said OK and sat aside waiting for the time the event will start 😀

Perhaps she wasn’t famous enough then.

I liked the concept, James, but struggled towards the end.
I thought it was a monologue, then got confused by the last three lines.

I agree. Perhaps a bit more attention to detail on my part; next time. Thanks for reading.

I think the celebrity has gone to his head. If glory fades in the future, he’ll find it very disappointing. Well done, James. 🙂 — Suzanne
