A Children’s Story for Halloween

I wrote this story sometime ago, it is aimed as fun for children but may serve as a warning to adults.

Let me know what you think.

  1. This is exactly why I never pick mushrooms. I have no clue which ones are poisonous. 🙂

  3. Nice story with vivid autumn imagery. I must admit, however, that I found it hard to keep track of who was dead and who was alive.

    • Jean knew, but yes perhaps the deception was clumsy. Thanks for the comment.

      • Yes, Jean said a couple of times that Karen was a ghost, and I suspected she was right. That’s why I was confused by the ending. If Jenny died, Karen must be alive, right?

        • Sorry yes. Jean and Karen were the only ones to see Jenny. Jean knew Jenny was the Ghost, each time Jean reacted it was because she saw the ghost. the leaves blowing into hallway. the dancing around the scones and walking up the street.
Perhaps I was not skilled enough when i originally wrote this and did not make the situation easier to follow. Thanks.

  4. I’ve read your story again and noticed all the hints that Jenny was the ghost (e.g. her gliding around the kitchen, her floating like autumn leaves, leaves swarming around Karen, etc). The writing is descriptive and clear; I was the one who missed all the clues.
