The Pleasure of Food
A sneaky snack while she waited. Laura licked some prawn sauce off her thumb as she heard the elevator start up; Melvin has arrived at last!
She checked in her hand mirror and wiped the crumbs from her chin.
She smiled, where will he take her tonight. Antonio’s does a great Lasagne, and their raspberry ripple you could die for, besides Tony’s a teaser.
Melvin appeared with a stern, disappointed look on his face.
Was it going to be one of those nights?
What now!
He stared at the food wrapper.
He is such a stickler about her petty pleasures.
Ugh might be time to give him the flick, or did he wants some too?

the question is who is in control?

Why should either be in control?

Very good. It was a great quick read whilst I ate my Domino’s Pizza, with contactless delivery.

Food comes first.

She shouldn’t have to choose between him and food – but perhaps if she has an over eating problem, she needs to be helped.

Perhaps food is her only comfort in the relationship. Thanks for the comment.

Let’s hope, for his sake, he’s more indulgent of her major pleasures or he’s not going to last long

Then again snacks are for sharing – are they not?

Hopefully, this episode taught her something. Farewell, buddy!

If a person can change your mood as swiftly as that, it’s probably time to think the relationship through. A moment nicely captured.

He sounds a bit too intimidating and if she recognises this, it’s time to scoot.

He sounds a bit too controlling, it didn’t take much for him to change her mood.

She needs to reopen the door and show him the way out…
And if, like Iain says, she has a problem, this is NOT how to handle it!

I think I’d be a little miffed if I were about to take someone out to eat, and she was eating when I arrived to pick her up.

Dear James,
One has to wonder why she’s eating before going out to eat. I think perhaps the relationship isn’t going in the right direction. I’m here to tell you food can be such a bone of contention.
Shalom,
Rochelle

My heart bleeds for Laura. So much delicious food and only twenty four hours in the day in which to eat it. Prawn sauce is a great hook, by the way!

This is such an interesting story. I feel like there is a lot more going on beneath the surface, like food is a metaphor for something, some back and forth between them.

Thanks for reading, yes maybe the relationship has gone stale.

I think Melvin needs to accept her as she is…

I guess it all depends on her relationship with food. Food can kill. Then again he might be just a regular dick?

The fact he is late and gets annoyed easily may say it all. Thanks.

Melvin seems a bit stiff, but Laura seems a bit lacking in self-control 🙂

This relationship seems doomed.
But you sure told us a lot in 100 words. Good job.
