The picture this week from Dale gives me the impression of a dark, foggy morning as we wait for the day to begin.

Comfort Labrador
The fluttering of anticipation somersaulted around Mary’s stomach like acrobats.
He had promised to make her happy and to love her to the end of the Earth.
Perhaps he can’t climb over the horizon, or is he lost in Lilliput, again?
She trusted every word then, his smiles, and hugs; running home from school because of the news.
That day, a dark, claustrophobic fog descended and strangled hope forever. The Mad Hatter raced and gibbered inside her soul. She slashed and tore, but darkness gripped tighter.
The doorbell rang.
Her comfort Labrador, Ben, had arrived.
“My dad’s name.” She cried.
Dear James,
I’m comforted just looking at the beautiful golden face. I’d say this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 😀
Shalom,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
As you know, there is a lot of emotional benefit on having a new dog as a pet. Thank you.

Your descriptive language is outstanding. And I love that the dog bear’s her father’s name.

Thank you. I think putting in the name softens the situation.

I’ve never had a dog-pal, but have had plenty of kitties. I think the feeling is the same. An animal that loves you as much as you love it is a blessing.

A wonderful story, James. Not only can the pet bring comfort, the pet story can as well. 🙂

Great descriptions. You had me hooked with the first line and all that followed stayed true.
Troy (pictured —->) is a therapy dog. We haven’t done anything on an individual level like that, but we’ve done group stuff.

Lovely descriptive language James – I really love these lines, ‘The Mad Hatter raced and gibbered inside her soul. She slashed and tore, but darkness gripped tighter.’ ❤

I can see fog lifting. A very sensitive write, James. Her cry at the end really gets to me.

I know it’s trite, but I really do think sometimes that our pets are angels in disguise. A story full of the promise of light after darkness.

I am glad she gets one. Ours passed away last month after giving us 15 years of unconditional love.
